I’d like to take this opportunity
to ‘officially’ let you know what’s been happening in The King Bz camp. As from
Saturday 12 December I have decided to call it a day, it happens as we all know,
people grow apart and rather than we all start falling out its
better to let everyone travel their own paths to where ever it leads them. We’ve
had some bloody fantastic times over the last ten years or so with highlights
of playing at Daytona Beach in Florida, Tours of Europe, unbelievably wild experiences
in Ireland and so many hot ‘n’ sweaty nights at festivals and in clubs/bars and
pubs all over the UK, those fantastic memories will stay with us all for ever.
Also to all the awe-inspiring
people that have been part of my journey, such as Mr. Rick Hague; such a beautiful
and honest guy and also the guy who came up with the name The King Bz and now
fronting his on band The Blues Jukes. Mr. Chris Ainley; The funniest guy I know
and still rocking out with his new band Elementum and based in the Midlands. Mr.
Martin Rushworth; one of the most thoughtful and honest people in know (if you
read this Martin do you remember the night we were both suited and booted after
a show at The Limavady Blues Festival watching Funkydory??? I do) who as we all
know is blowing us all away with another Ex King (Queen) Bz Ms Chantel
McGregor, I wish them every success, if anyone deserves a shot at the ‘big time’
its those spectacular musicians.. Go get em. There from the start Mr. Tony ‘TC’
Carter, I could write a book about my little jaunts around the globe with this
guy but I feel the world just isn’t ready for a book of that content yet, when
ever we played shall we say “less cultured “venues we would both look at each other
and like the Laurel & Hardy we were and say at the same time “that’s another
fine f##kin mess you’ve got me into”. So to TC live your Rock n Roll dream mate
and don’t ever back down. Mr. Chris ‘£20’ Bunney the newest Bee in the hive who
would have tears rolling down our faces with the stories and yarns of
yesteryear about the funny side of a touring musician and Chris thanks a
million for all your help this year in Italy.
I thank you all and wish you
every success on your path.
So on and forward; over the last
few years I’ve writing a mountain of material or as I fondly call them ‘babies’
(songs) and for the first time ever I feel like its time to get out of the box and
brave the world myself, so hence the birth of The Paddy Maguire Band, now
please don’t expect as the name suggests a whole load of people jumping around
on one leg pretending to be Michael
Flatley or anyone dancing in rivers but a more back to
basics approach of a trusted three piece, with room for maneuver for everyone involved,
still stood with me and on Bass duties will be the incredible Mr. Mick Dale who
has been with me through thick and thin for the last seven years and on Drums
Mr. Craig Ellis, who’s other job is with The Tigers of Pan Tang. Together we
have formed a strong writing bond and we’re producing so many ‘babies’ (that
sounds so wrong on so many levels). In the bag already we have confirmed dates throughout
the UK and even a small tour of Italy which is good going to say we haven’t even
had our first gig yet!! This leads me nicely on to our first show, which is at
The Crimea Tavern on the 2nd January 2010, please could you include it on your
gig guide? Also any venues or agents/bookers looking for a mostly originals
band who tip their hat to the Hendrix, SRV and Rory side of things please feel
give me a call on 07780 640 734.
